You're supposed to keep a distance away from Honu - like 10 or 20 feet
...but that can be hard to do!
...especially when you find yourself participating in sort of a dance.
Honu finally took a dive in the other direction!
...and then surfaced for a breath of air. Neat to watch!
Turtles come up on the beach to rest
If they get too hot, they use their flippers to throw up some cool, wet sand on their shell
This turtle came up on the beach, and is now headed back down toward the water
These Honu stopped on the rocks - maybe they missed high tide, or just didn't want to go any further...
Black-crowned Night Heron doing some fishing
This is low tide...probably an incoming turtle who will take advantage of the rising tide
Totally tuckered out!
A favorite turtle beach. I've forgotten what the "count" was - I think it was 18 turtles sighted.
The sun can't really be seen setting into the ocean - it sets into the "vog" and clouds before it gets that far.
Making tracks...and throwing sand!
Disappearing, still above the horizon
Headin' back out to sea!
